This class focuses on beginner leather crafting concepts and techniques but also welcomes students who have worked with leather in the past and want a refresher or who want to hone their basic skills. Students will learn about the tools used in hand and machine leather sewing, and specialized leather tools. We will also cover various techniques including simple pattern making and using store-bought patterns. Project themes for true beginners will be fairly simple. However, as students increase their skills, or for returning students with existing skills, projects can be more complex. Students are encouraged to bring project ideas to class and the instructor will provide guidance on how to simplify a project if necessary. The goal of this class is to have fun while helping a student gain a strong basic foundation in leather crafting which can be used to build upon. Please note that although four projects are discussed during week 1 there is some flexibility in the number and duration of projections on an individual basis
