Discover the “String Theory” Technique!

Step into a new world of creativity with this one-of-a-kind class!  The “String Theory” technique showcases the beauty and versatility of tiny seed beads, offering limitless possibilities for design and expression.  Let your imagination guide you as you explore this innovative approach to jewelry making.

What to Bring:

As you are aware by now, there will be a generous supply of beads and other findings with which to work, but if you have some tiny accent beads that hold personal signigicance please do bring them to incorporate into your creations. These could include unique shapes, iconic symbols, totems,crosses, crystals, or other small treasures that inspire you. Keep in mind that the accent beads shold be very small, as shown in tin the class image  You may also wish to bring a few slightly larger gemstones to incorporate into your design.

Tools and Materials:

This class introduces unusual tools tailored specifically for the “String Theory” technique.  Your typical tools from Jewelry I and II will not be needed.  Instead, an array of class-specific tools will be provided for your work.  Your kit will also include seed beads in various colors from which to choose, stringing material, findings, crystals, and other beads to incorporate in your creation.

You are encouraged to bring magnifying readers and light if that will enhance your work. This is a challenging, gratifying technique that is designed, again, to open new avenues of expanded creative vision for you.

 Reclaim your silver! Students who have been working in silver for some time may have accumulated a lot of scrap that is not suitable for new projects. With the price of new silver going up, we would all like to be able to reuse the scraps that we have saved.

This workshop is designed to teach students how to reclaim and reuse silver scraps. We will melt up scrap sterling silver and create a billet which we will forge and roll into sheet metal ready for a new project.

Each student is responsible for bringing their own scrap to recycle. Note that scrap silver should be free of any solder!

  • Create one handmade candle in a container

  • Make wax melts (fondants) using molds

  • Customize your creations with scents, colors, and optional dried botanicals

  • Learn safe and simple techniques suitable for beginners

 Material fee ($20) includes
