This introductory course focuses on fundamental drawing skills including line, texture, value, and composition. We will explore how to observe a subject and capture what we see using charcoal, graphite, and conté. Ideal for beginning drawing students or those who want to refresh their skills.

This course will build on the basic concepts of drawing taught in Introduction to Drawing. Classes will focus on developing skills in composition, perspective, observational drawing, and portraiture, and on strengthening the connection between your eye and hand through various drawing exercises. These classes are designed to take your drawing to the next level and help you develop your ability to capture structure, value, and form.

This class focuses on drawing portraits of people. We will develop a basic understanding of facial anatomy and proportions and learn techniques to create expressive likenesses.

Both monochromatic and color media will be explored.

Pet Portrait drawing will focus on drawing portraits of pets. Students will build on a basic understanding of observational drawing and learn techniques to create likenesses.

This course teaches you to create dynamic, evocative drawings of buildings and urban scenes by focusing on subjective interpretation rather than strict realism, using techniques like loose line work, playful perspective, and vibrant color to capture a scene's essence, mood, and intent. We'll focus on drawing with pen and ink and applying color with water-based media, enabling you to transform images into unique visual expressions.  

This class offers studio time for intermediate/ advanced drawing students to work on ongoing projects under the guidance of an instructor. 

We will learn how to paint with fast drying acrylic paints. I will show you different techniques, mixed media, layering, and building a focal point. You can use the painting the instructor will bring or be brave and bring your own. We will make it work and have fun all at the same time!

Art should be a fun filled exploration and that is what we will be doing in this class. We will learn different techniques, such as stenciling, stamping, gel medium and colorful paper choices. During this class we will play, learn, and push boundaries and enjoy the process in creating mixed media art.

Learn to paint what you see with basic oil painting techniques. We will work from still life and photographs, taking a page from impressionism with regard to drawing, color theory and brushwork. While learning the essentials, the instructor will work with each student to help develop a personal style of painting. Throughout the course you may work from your own photographs or the instructors.

Learn the basic techniques to use the difficult medium of watercolor. You will complete a painting each week following the step by step instructions and demonstrations by the teacher. You will work primarily from photographs to paint both still lifes and landscapes. More advanced students may wish to work from their own photographs with individual help from the instructor.

Explore watercolor painting techniques with a focus on fundamentals, including how to see and mix colors and how to represent form using the right values. You will primarily paint from life in the studio and also learn how to simplify what you see in reference photos to create uniquely personal watercolor art.
