Sondra von Gyllenband

Fiber Arts - Wet and Needle Felting

‍ ‍

Sondra von Gyllenband has been creative from an early age, with a lifelong interest in color and design. She first explored art through floral design in high school and college, developing an appreciation for texture, composition, and color. Living in the Caribbean had a strong influence on her artwork and as an avid scuba diver, she found inspiration in the ocean, tropical reefs, changing light, and island culture. These experiences continue to influence the colors and organic forms in her work.

Sondra discovered felting after visiting a llama farm and quickly became passionate about the medium. After studying with noted felting artist Patti Barker, she began creating felted scarves, flowers, vessels, wall pieces, and wearable art. Her work is inspired by nature, the sea, and her years of teaching and spiritual practice.

Her Wet and Needle Felting class will introduce students to the basics of wet felting and needle felting. Participants will learn how wool fibers behave, how felting happens, and how the two techniques can work together. Simple samples and exercises will build confidence and prepare students for future projects. Perfect for Beginners, Curious Creators, and anyone wanting to explore Fiber Arts.
