The workshop will include demonstrations on planning and designing for each technique, creating pierced metal layers that work together on different levels, and assembling two- or three-layered structures using the following methods:
Method #1: Cold Connections
Method #2: Framed Soldering
Method #3: Spacer Soldering
This hands-on class will provide students with the tools and knowledge to explore multi-layered construction in their own jewelry designs, with time to practice and apply each method under guided instruction.
Required age: Over 18 years old on the day of the activity
Notes: Supply fee $50 Dimensional Layering Kit information The kit fee for the workshop will be probably be around $50 (depending on the cost of silver) and will include everything needed to make the projects except for silver sheet. Silver sheet will not be included in the kit. I'm asking everyone to bring their own 18- gauge sheet if possible. 20g sterling silver sheet is optional. If you plan to make all your projects with 18g sterling silver sheet, you will need a piece of approximately 1” x 6” to 2” x 6” 18g sheet. 18-gauge sheet can be rolled out to 20 gauge if desired for some of the projects. I will be bringing 18g and 20g sterling silver sheet that you can purchase from me in case you weren’t able to buy your own, or if you need extra. The projects can all be made with: copper sheet, brass sheet, a mixture of metals or in all sterling silver.
