A woman with short brown hair, wearing glasses, a black shirt, and a beige apron, is sitting at a worktable in a craft or bookbinding studio. She is holding a book with a textured cover and appears to be sewing or assembling it. The background has shelves with fabrics and tools, and there are papers and scissors on the table.

Box Making

My career in retail buying led me to visit factories and showrooms across the USA, Europe and Asia. During an assignment in Italy, I fell in love with that country’s beautiful papers and exquisite leathers and tooling methods. In 2016, while taking bookbinding classes at the Guild, I discovered a way to apply my skills in visual design and bring new life to traditional materials. I’ve recently turned my attention to making boxes, and I continue to learn new techniques in bookbinding, mixed media, and sewing.
