Gary Vaughan

Woodworking Department Chair

I began working in wood as a teenager and pursued my craft while running my own building company for many years. I’ve studied at craft schools across the country, including Arrowmont and the Florida School of Woodwork. My passion is working with wood to create functional works of art that are as pleasing to the eye as they are to use. I am particularly inspired by Colonial craftsmen and enjoy using hand tools and traditional woodsmithing techniques. Blending modern techniques, I also create using CNC technology to make precision-cut designs. My work has been featured in the Texas Furniture Makers Show in Kerrville, and in an article in the Dallas Advocate.
