Two women in a ceramics workshop, one explaining or gesturing with her hand and the other listening, surrounded by pottery tools, clay, and shelves with pottery supplies.

Barrie Curtsinger

Clay Department Co-Chair

After graduating from the University of Dallas with an Art degree focused in Ceramics, I moved to the Marblehead Peninsula in Ohio where my husband and I had a clay studio and taught ceramics at Owens Community College in Toledo. We moved back to Dallas in 2007, and I began teaching at the Craft Guild. I enjoy both hand-building and throwing, and make mostly decorative, functional work. With 50 years of clay experience, I now enjoy teaching students of all levels and strive to provide solid foundational knowledge that leads to confidence and a creative enthusiasm for clay.
